A few years ago my financial advisor said I'm on track to retire in my 50s. I'm turning 30 in about 2 weeks so that's a great sign. I'd like to get married and have a family one day, so I'm sure that'll likely knock my retirement age back into the 60s.
That's not something I've really thought about too seriously. But I assume I'll just work until the usual retirement age, sixty-something. I've known of people who retired early and were kind of bored and out of sorts, and I wouldn't want to wind up like that. I hope I'll have work to do that's interesting enough to have me wanting to keep going.
Mathematically I could retire in my mid-50s, assuming my wife never goes back to work as our young children get older.
I don’t know if I would completely retire though - I hate corporate America and would 100% leave the grind, but wouldn’t mind consulting or working for a small company that places a stronger emphasis on culture.
