At what point does it make sense to purchase a united club pass? Hate waiting at the gate

Unfortunately, in my opinion, never. The free food and drinks aren't worth it. The partner lounges are better but your likelihood of being in a terminal with a Lufthansa or Thai Airways lounge is minimal. Arrive to the airport later or by a day pass ($50 if I recall) for when you are majorly delayed.

United lounges are only marginally better than the gate, unfortunately

Yea, after a couple of delayed flights, it became worth it.

Marginally cleaner bathrooms in case of emergency. Try seeing if you can get a chase club card with the annual fee waived for the first year. You can also status match to Turkish airways and get Star Gold which gets you free access at the United club for one or two years

Chase. Sapphire. Reserve.

Agree with PwC 3, look at credit cards that may make sense for you and include lounge access. They carry hefty annual fees, so the other benefits need to make sense for you in addition to the lounge access for it to be worthwhile. But if you travel a lot, you may benefit from the other features. Also, remember that the clubs can provide rebooking assistance often faster and more competently then out in the wasteland of the terminals, usually have charging ports, seat of availability, some house wines and beers etc.

I actually looked at the Sapphire card last night and it doesn't seem to include domestic lounge access for most domestic airlines (though my sample size was very limited - just enough to decide the economics didn't make sense for me).

You probably need one of the United-branded cards. I fly American as I live in an AA hub, so I'm not up on the UA card options, but most airlines have a card that includes a full lounge membership. They usually carry a new annual fee in the neighborhood of $450.

There's a way you can enter your mileage plus number into the Chase MileagePlusClub card site. I got the $450 annual fee waived. I fly between EWR and ORD so I'm always delayed and it's worth it. Also at ORD and EWR they frequently don't allow one-time passes when the lounges are busy, meaning you can't get in at all when mega delayed. If you can get the fee waived try it out for a year. No harm there.

Cancelled flight this evening, called the AA folks and they said it was mechanical and to check with the local agent for hotel/meal. Local agent says it's weather, I booked a night to just get CONT.

I quit my old job but am working PT for them till they find a replacement. Apparently they could not get a refund on a flight they booked me and my manager is asking if (not me, but I can see it in Teams) I can reimburse for the ticket. It’s $800, anyone know if this is legal?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
