Hi everyone!!! Last year I put together a list of classrooms to exchange valentines with! We mailed 1 valentine to each class and included a picture if we could, and a few things about where we live and things we do!
I currently have 13 classes signed up! The more the merrier!!
We have classes CA, WI, PA, KS, TX, RI, MI, Canada, New Zealand.
I have a form to fill out if you are interested! I will email everyone the list probably at the end of the week if not sooner!

So on the band directors Facebook page it boils down to everyone pmay on mute while you demonstrate. You then have individuals play one at a time unmuted. Count and finger first so they're more successful. Students can submit playing tests via Google classroom.
Brian Balmages did over an hour rehearsal just watching fingerings, and the kids loved it.
I’m in the same boat. I’m a first year and it’s difficult. I want to keep my kids playing but I’m stuck for how to successfully do this with 1. Zoom classes with 40 -60 kids and 2. The shortest class time is 25 minutes. Wish I could help more.
Thank you for letting me know that I’m not alone. Hopefully someone can help us out. And geez, I can’t imagine how crazy the year must be for you. I’m in my 4th year, and I feel lost. Good luck!
Hi! I don’t have my kids enrolled in Smartmusic, but I have my own teacher account, which I present onscreen during our video call. 95% method book work right now. If I think/know I’m going to need to write/scribble on a particular exercise, I’ll take a screenshot of it in advance, screenshare that, and draw on it live. OR, I’ll screenshot it, make it a drawable Peardeck slide, and have the kids draw on it for assessment purposes. I’m one of two band directors, so all the woodwinds meet with me, and the brass/percussion meet with my colleague. Make your kids play - you won’t hear them unless they volunteer to demo in class (which you should encourage) or during their small group lesson (we hold ours during office/support hours), but you’ll regret not having them play at all when they come back and remember nothing. Cameras on or bust.
