McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

$105k for senior associates
No idea on signing. Don't forget healthcare is 99% free (no premium, no deductible, $5 copay), retirement is 5% of base and bonus for As, and bonuses are 15-30% for As. Can't imagine you're taking much of a step back.
Pay at BCG is standardized per band in a region. Whatever band you map to, is what you'll be paid, non negotiable.
If you're pre MBA, you'll be an Associate. Otherwise Consultant or higher.
And you can get promoted quickly, so think of it as a long term investment
Thanks guys! Really appreciate all of the insight! Final q, are signing bonuses a thing for experienced hires? If so, ballpark number?
We don’t look at your salary history to determine your base - our salary is standardized across the US. Every first year consultant gets the same base. So does every second year associate etc.
if your current base is higher than the base of the level you would come in, we often account for that with a sign-on bonus
BCG has set pay for each level. For the consulting group at least.
Do you know what the SA band is? I figure I’d map closest to that level
Do it
Yeah I know it’s an investment. I just live in a high COL city so this affects a lot of day to day. I appreciate all of the feedback! I heard Associate is about $84, does that sound right?
Yes that’s right for associate base
Associate is 80-85k depending on tenure and when you started! So 84 sounds right
6, that helps a lot. I’m making a rate equivalent to SA right now. So going down to A would be a bit of a cut. I do know that the BCG bonus’s would blow Accenture’s out of the water
BCGers. If I have 2 years of experiences pre-MBA and want to join BCG. Will I join as 1st year associate or second year associate? Will my salary base be in the same 80K -85K range?
Likely yes
