Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?
Are there any Deloitte penetration testers or managers over the Pentesting team in here? I found a role and I was trying to connect to the right person to help increase my chances of getting viewed for the role and be the lucky winner. Feel free to DM me, I am also prior Deloitte in the Cyber GPS offering. Deloitte

Fake it until you make it - you’re now the data person.
Fake it till you make it doesn’t work in tech consulting as the lead. You can somewhat get away with as a team member, but definitely not as the lead. OP, have a 1 on 1 with the engagement leader and let them know that you do not know the topics being discussed.

Ehm, this is just consulting in a nutshell
It doesn’t have to be that way, and for many firms, it’s not that way.
First, start with the project lead in a 1-on-1. Address your concerns. Depending on the size of your firm maybe someone else told them the wrong information about your skills. Do you have a mentor or coach you can speak with? Go to them next.
Reach out to someone who has done similar work and ask for guidance. Don’t pretend like you know everything. And ask tons of questions up front for the sake of clarity
You've just been parachuted behind enemy lines. Open up a path for the main force. Do it again tomorrow in a completely different place/terrain. You've never done it before. NOBODY has ever done it before. Get it done in a way that advances the career of the person signing the check. This is the way.
I have no clue about any of this. What should I do?
SC1 - makes sense and is understandable you can fake it till you make it given your responsibility. Based on OP’s comments, if you need to deliver a new data feature, seems like OP has been put in the position of providing the solution and having answers to technical questions to and for someone like you. I’m sure OP could do that for data governance, but not for the other data topics mentioned. If you turned to OP in your position and he didn’t have a clue of how to execute on the feature you need to deliver, chances are you’d escalate to get someone else who knows what they are doing. It’s impossible to BS your way through that and learn on the fly.
Fake it till you make it. Soon you will be introduced as the practise data lead
Take the opportunity to learn and throw your best irons in the fire. Find out what you don’t know or are unsure and seek out the help you need to make this happen. Look at this as an opportunity to grow and learn.
What is techie?
Just try to research a little on the things they expect you to know so you can ask good questions. Reach out to others hopefully at your firm who can mentor you in these areas.
