Does anyone have an idea on what salary should be expected when applying to a major biotech company (GSK, Novartis, J&J, AbbVie etc...) as an entry level (3 years experience) Pharmacology & Toxicology master degree with an emphasis in Drug Discovery and Development with technical expertise in electrophysiology/neuroscience domain (several published papers on sodium channels) ?

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? I’m currently in the process of being converted from contractor to permanent. In my initial conversations I was under the impression that I was in a different pay grade and asked for a salary 25k higher than the max allotted for my position. I recently interviewed for a small strat consulting company (energy industry). I have 3 YoE and would be moving from engineering. the HR person asked me what my salary expectations were I was caught offguard and said I would expect it to be at least what I make now (around 100k). Im now worried theyll lowball me because I really shouldve asked for 120+bonus (I think this is market rate?) But they have salary bands they follow right?So if they pay consultants 140 usually would they offer me 100k?

The long: One technique I’ve found to stay focused is “body doubling,” i.e., having another person present while you’re working. I’ve had some success replicating this over Zoom/Google Meet.
