Let’s go Lauren

Hi All,
I joined Tech Mahindra for 5 days only and didn't find suitable timing for my project and emailed resignation mail to manager and HR. After that HR asked me to resign over portal but at the same time blocked my portal. After requesting many times they didn't unblock my portal and pretended like they want to unblock but there is some issue going on and marked my profile absconded. I have cleared fnf but they are not providing reliving letter but added pf amount also. What to do?

I left Big 4 to go to Big Law and then left Big Law to go back to Big 4. No comparison - Big 4 is so. much. better. SO MUCH.
Big 4 has expertise, great templates, and competitive rates if you want to land clients and actually keep them. Big 4 has nice people that actually know what they are talking about.
Big Law was a total of 20 attorneys trying to cover all 50 states in advice and counsel, lit, and labor all running around like crazy people. I heard partners in Big Law give malpractice-level advice while charging the client 1k/hr. The personalities were TERRIBLE and partners had zero management skills or common sense (and no time to give any effs about it). They would make mistakes and throw associates (who knew better than they did) under the bus. I had to draft blog posts, do business dev from scratch, counsel on every issue under the sun, and produce perfect product with only an outdated version of word and Lexis Practical Guidance. L&E attorneys in Big Law seemed to be the lower earners and not well-respected.
I will never go back. Even though Big 4 associates earn less now we have greater earning potential down the road and a significantly reduced risk of work-induced cancer.
Your experience sounds similar to mine. Tried Big Law..... wasn't for me. Came back to Big 4 and will not look back.

Big 4 - you will have access to the world’s biggest employers, you will get better training, better experience, and do more varied L&E work. More litigation, more actual traditional labor work, no deal work/due diligence, some advice and counsel.
You will work similar, but maybe slightly less hours, for definitely less pay than Big Law. I honestly don’t know how cutthroat partnership is in Big Law, it’s reasonably attainable (both NE and E) in the Big 4.
A8- I believe so but it’s probably pretty comparable. Littler has spent a lot of time getting clobbered with Starbucks so that may skew the numbers, but the OD labor group is probably 50 lawyers deep who do nothing but labor work, with another 75 who practice it at least 50 percent.
Just left from big law (vault 50) to big 4. I left due to toxic culture and overwork. Happy so far and am specializing in traditional labor, which I enjoy. I’ve learned more in a few months here than I did in 3 years in big law. Definitely miss market pay sometimes, though.
How much pay would you accept to be guaranteed to get cancer and never see your family? Because that’s basically what they ask of you in Big Law.
Big 4 pays less than both amlaw 200 and biglaw. I personally like the amlaw 200 firm I’m at, there isn’t as much pressure to hit the hours and I feel like I have good opportunities. It’s a good middle ground, maybe it’s just your firm.
I’m class of 2021 and making 160k, the same job at JL would pay about 145k in my city
Depends on the big law firm you can go to. If you can go to a Morgan, Proskauer, or Jones Day, big law is by far a better choice.
I was told to stay far away from Jones Day L&E…
I was in a service group at a V30 as well and it sucked. That said, I do wonder if I should try a DWT type firm to make less than market but more than Big 4

Commenting cause i’d like to know too or if you left a Big Law L&E firm for a Big 4 firm/why.
Was in a service group at a V30 and this is 100percent accurate
