Big4 vs BDO
I’m currently working for a Big4 firm and I’m considering an offer from BDO for a base increase of $35k-$65k more. The pay is a lot higher so I want to take it, but I’m worried about taking an offer from a firm with less prestige. Does BDO have a good reputation? How’s the culture and WLB at BDO?

I am a Senior Manager of Software Engineering and lead architect at a small company (was a startup with < 10 employees when I joined, now has > 50). I am the most senior technical person in the company (we don't have a CTO, I report to the COO), even though I only have 4.5 YOE. I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be? I'm joining EY India Technology Consulting in a week. However, EY is also my client, primarily we're involved in the maintenance of their internal user interface.

I can see a non solicitation clause in my current employer's offer letter than I can't join client within 12 months of my termination.

Are this non solicitation clauses followed in reality? Everyone's has been asking me to chill, since I'm joining as scon, not a manager or with any trade secrets. Opinions pls.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
