Yep, been dealing with this scenario for almost two years.
Yes, standard when more green and ambitious. It’s exploitation in a way but you’ll grow faster, they get it cheaper. Until you recognize it and move on to right compensation. You can play the transaction to maximize the value you derive. Rinse and repeat every two years or so, you’ll be tops in no time. Then you’ll need to navigate the next level which will require embodying your worth while learning new boundaries. That’s a different post all together
I haven’t had this happen to me, but i will say that this calls into question the ethics of your line manager and the C-Suite. Are you at a holding company that’s merging?
If so, it’s a signal that the industry’s financials are in worse trouble than we thought
