Guys how is HCL in SAP consulting. Got offer from HCL which is around 30% hike over my current CTC . Is it worth to shift. And yes money is one of my key motivation

I feel like every company lies about “working your way up.” You’re never allowed to blatantly say that you don’t like your position and you’d like to transition to HR or Finance. It’s almost as if once you get in claims, you’re stuck.

If you’re a manager and you see an employee that wants to branch out into a different department, why would you keep them boxed in for 2+ years?

I am a Reliability Maintenance 3P contractor for Amazon. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering on June 2022. I’ve been working with Amazon for a year, but there’s a lack of prospective EE positions within the company. The job postings I see are either less or barely above my current salary. I’m not sure if staying longer is beneficial for my future career as an Electrical engineer. I plan on getting my FE license within the next 6 months. Any suggestions will be appreciated

1st yr at a nyc v50 firm doing general transactional work. I know the lateral market for transactional lawyers is hot but not as hot for juniors. I just want a change of scenery because my current firm is bleeding good associates / not giving great training imo / and just seems small. Would lateralling this early feasible? I have a coworker who keeps spouting comparative odds and situations in regards to the safety of the vaccine. Such as: you're twice as likely to get hit by lightening than have blod clots from JJ. It's very annoying and I find it to be really inapprorpriate, maybe because it's pushy or just I find these comparative things to be a bit irrelevant. How does one handle something like that? Can you shut the person down without starting a spat?

Anyone who is ex-consulting and moved to industry miss the events? I don't miss the lack of WLB, but I miss getting tickets to conferences, team events and DU.
Pandemic has been good and bad, since I guess no one is going anywhere, but also because industry office is closed so no in-house events either. Miss getting varied experiences across different clients and industries that consulting offered.
Anyone else feel like their world shrunk a ton when they left consulting for industry?

Does industry have billable hours? At the big 4, we are required to work a certain number of hours each week and if we spend too much time on anything we are questioned on why it took so long. Is that a thing when you go in industry?

I got an offer at Nokia, and my new manager said that she wanted to put me in the higher salary bracket however the HR insisted that we lowered the range. That caused me to receive a much lower salary than expected. Should I renegotiate even when my manager said that she tried giving me more. Does HR really play that big of a role in this?
