People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. The worst part is that I’ve been working from home bc of Covid and I’m literally just walking upstairs after giving hugs and kisses and saying see you soon 800 times. My spouse is a stay at home parent, but that doesn’t seem to matter to my son. A piece of me dies everyday because of this.

2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Will this ruin my opportunities down the road?

If I’m contributing to my Roth 401k vs pretax 401k and my employer matches 10% of my contributions. My employer match be 10% on my post tax contributions right? Technically meaning I’ll be getting less of my 10% employer match then if I were to do pretax 401k since that match would be on a higher amount?

Hello I just started my first job (I’m 22) and I need to set up a 401k for matching with my company. I’m really confused how this works because I want to try to hit the IRS maximum of $19,500 for Roth contributions this year. Maybe it’s too late in the year now, but it’s asking me to pick my desired contribution % per pay period, but I’m not sure how much to do because it says it’ll kick in 1-2 pay cycles and I don’t even know when the next pay check comes yet. $325k TC at MBB in a non-generalist (still partner track) path. Love the intellectual variety, smart colleagues, flexibility (WFH has let me take occasional 2-3h windows during the day for personal activities) - can’t take the stress anymore.
