What do you think google and Facebook do BM1?
No kidding, but I believe a partnerships role is hands-on with clients telling them where and how to spend more on ads, vs. broader partnership strategy to advance GGL/FB usage or visibility in a broader sense. I’m on the media and brand consulting side, and do NOT think an ad sales position at either is anyone’s idea of an upward move post-consulting.

Definitely not all ad sales. E.g. I’m working with a couple of teams building non-ads products, and the partnerships teams mostly work with 3P to build parts of the tech stack (e.g. other tech products for app-level features, or maybe licensing deals for core underlying tech).
I think overall it depends a lot on the specific team. Google and FB are big fragmented organizations.
I’m not close to that part of the org at all, but at FB there is a pretty well-defined GTM org, which is separate from the orgs that actually build consumer-facing products. I work in one of the product orgs, which is why the partnerships roles here are not sales-oriented at all.
