Hi everyone! I have a few questions on submitting the visa appointment fee expense for reimbursement in DTE: Can we submit an expense for our spouse’s visa appointment (they’re on H4)? I am from India and in order to pay the visa fee I used the NEFT option to pay but the Indian bank account my brother’s. What receipt will be accepted in DTE? I don’t think there’s any receipt that we received. It was just my brother initiated the transfer from his Deloitte" class="linkified" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >account.Deloitte

Just call and ask them what their process is...
How do you even get your pants on in the morning?
I have all sorts of imaginations/thoughtson why you're doing this. Hopefully everything is alright with you.
They usually make things easy to do yourself online but if you can’t figure it out just call.
If this is an employer plan, and you're still employed, you may be restricted from any type of withdrawal. If these are rollover funds you put into an IRA, you should be free top just request a full distribution within the website.
Usually you can do so online. I don’t know Merrill, but generally the steps would be:
1. Sell your funds to money market or whatever is needed for withdrawal.
2. Link your bank account to your 401k account.
3. Wait for fund sales to fully settle (3 bus. days)
4. Make withdrawal request.
5. Wait for funds to show up in your account.
If they don’t support online withdrawal, you may need to request a check to be mailed to you, and they probably have a form to fill out for that. Worst case it might need to be signed, notarized, and either faxed or mailed to them. If you are going to have penalties (sounds likely) then they may withhold a portion of it for the IRS.
I don’t think you can roll to an IRA while still employed there. Your main option would be a 401k loan. Still not advisable but since you don’t want advice on that, that’s your main way to get at the money.
I know you don’t want a lecture but I do think it’s worth pointing out that a large liquidation of a 401k for a high income person could easily end up paying about 50% of the withdrawal amount in taxes and penalties. I say this just from a practical standpoint, that you may not end up with as much of it as you thought.
From what you said above though, a 401k loan is probably your main available option, and the taxes and penalties there would not get triggered until you lost or left your job (or defaulted on the payments).
Is it just calling them? Just want to know what to expect from their side..
What does google say?
When you called Merrill, what did they say? What were their instructions to you?
