I’ve actually been in a labor Union. Unmotivated people doing the very least they can do knowing it’s nearly impossible to fire them. No thanks.
Yeah would be nice to get paid more. But to be fair, most professions do “free” work from time to time.
From the sales person who spent hours working on a sale and didn’t get the commission to the teachers who put in all the unpaid overtime to the real estate brokers who show places but don’t get paid to the waiters who get stiffed on tips etc etc.
Those people should have unions as well. Unpaid labor is unethical and gross even if it is wide spread.
Plumbers don’t have Audi cars nor send their kids to private school. And if I’ve learned anything about agency leadership BOY do they love driving expensive cars and sending their kids to private school. I’m with you, but a long shot.
Mine drives an Audi RS4 as his daily driver cause his other car is a Porsche GT3. 🤷🏻♂️
My husband does HVAC and is unionized. His work/life balance is way better and he gets paid more than me. There are some definite perks to white collar but not all around
Almost everyone has pitched this idea and no one has taken the first step. If you’re serious, you need to organize and get people involved.
For what’s its worth: we *do not* give away work for free for pitches. Pitches are a hustle, always short turnaround, but it’s disrespectful to the work we do (and to workers!) to give it away for free. I know a few creative agencies that have similar philosophies (a few, not many).
