Black women made the career switch from corporate America to entrepreneurship during Covid-19. While it appears entrepreneurship was deemed a necessity, Black women were the largest group of new business owners closely followed by Latina women. These businesses have high growth potential but why is access to finding still a barrier?

Your boss is also probably interviewing.
True story - while working at firm A I was recruited to join firm B and had accepted the offer. But I was more interested in firm C, and when I went to my final interview there, the guy from firm B was also interviewing. I think most people are always looking.
Somewhat similar story - Years ago I was a senior associate getting ready for promotion to manager, but unfortunately it was tough to support the business case because we didn’t have room for another manager on my team. I was nervous my career was going to stall so I interviewed for a cool role at the client. Was bummed when I found out I didn’t get that job, but a few days later my manager announced she was leaving the firm for a job at the client...the same position I’d interviewed for. She left for the client role and my firm promoted me into her spot a few months later. She ended up hating the job at the client and boomeranged back to the firm a year later with a different practice.

Every boss knows that every employee interviews.
If you’re in the US you can legally be fired for almost anything. Just keep it under wraps until you have an offer.
Not legally, can they find another reason to let you go though? Probably if they are lame and vindictive. Will most try? Not in my experience but they will start cutting you out of meetings and giving you information because they assume you are leaving and won’t waste anymore of their time on you.
Your right, my bad. I have never known anyone to get fired who was caught out but I have known them to be shut out of everything as soon as it became apparent that they were looking. The biggest mistake is telling someone else you “trust” that you are looking. In inevitably gets out.
We are at will. They can fire you whenever. But not for discriminatory reasons. “Looking for another job” is not protected. They don’t have to give a good reason. They just can’t give a bad reason

Very difficult if you are in a big firm. How would your boss reach out to HR regarding this? I “found this person is interviewing elsewhere, let’s fire him/her?”
And what evidence would would your boss furnish?

Yes, they can let you go for any reason
