Hi all, has anyone temporarily transferred to the Canadian office of their firm and done the Canadian PR application while they were there on work visa?

Despite all the visa hassles, I feel blessed to live in a place where family can celebrate just like back home 🙏🙏 (am not religious, but for those interested, apparently some great muhurtam time going on now)

If I have a six year old and 150k in a 529, can I say I’m done?

I’m worry that I still have like 45 years more to be retired and can’t stop working because I have a f* mortgage to pay 😭 I have a super ergonomic workstation, but I know my hand needs a long rest, and I can’t do it… Does anyone relate? What do you recommend?

What is everyone’s take on the NYC housing market? More people and businesses are moving out. I’d imagine it has to continue to dip. Also, they’re considering turning adding more units by converting commercial space into residential space. Inventory is going to be through the roof for rentals. I’d think that has to ultimately impact home prices.

My partner and I bought our home back in 2020. We got a good deal, low rate. But we want to move into a more spacious SFH. However, as we all know this market is crazy. Everything we want costs $620k+ and bc of rates it makes our mortgage estimates $3500+. We are currently paying $2k. And it looks we need to sell the house simultaneously as look for a new one or our contingency isn’t as attractive. I know it’s based on personal circumstances. But what would you do? - not move, sell and buy?

I've been allocating 100% of my Roth IRA funds to Vanguards target retirement fund 20XX. Should I keep doing this or do I need to start getting into VTI/VOO/VTSAX as everyone in this bowl is so fond of?

I had a baby almost a year ago. I should start a 529 account for my child but I am originally from France which also makes her a French citizen and she could easily go to college in France for not much money. It’s pretty much free there, I have 0 Student loan debt. With that in mind, a 529 would not be super helpful if we go that route. Should I consider other options? Do you have suggestions? Recently accepted a temp role as an HR admin for a former employer. Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. The problem is we’re going back into the office and I don’t want to go in if it’s just going to be senior management in asking me to get them lunches for client meetings or fetch a glass of water and cutlery for meeting rooms.
