AI has got you covered on this. It will give you much better responses than we can, especially if you tell it more specifics than you did here. A few tips:
- feed it your resume + a JD for a job you are interested in
- tinker with some good prompting
- you can even do practice interviews
- try different chatbots (including at least one non-free for access to advanced models)
Haha I've been using AI! And you're right it's incredibly helpful.
Just wanted to gather insight from various sources is all
First time I left I got a fair amount of questions about relevant case experience (PL level) and many interviewees trying to see if I could connect the dots from my strategic thinking through to how to drive implementation
second time I went to a client and basically chit chatted my way through some interviews (Partner level)
Questions have been relevant to the job/subject matter. Less so on general behavior/problem solving. Interviewing at manager/sr manager level jobs in industry for roles requiring fairly specialized domain experience
Speaking from leaving to an Associate/Sr Associate level for S&O/BizOps role. Most interviews have been broader "walk me through a time when x" questions. Key themes across companies/roles have included:
- Time you dealt with an ambiguous problem
- Time you used data to drive a decision
- Time you worked with cross-functional stakeholders and had to drive alignment
A bit adjacent than then question posed, but I leveraged AI for persona “battle cards” as how my (now) role would engage with various c-suite members and effectively role played the interviews before they happened.
It may sound obvious, but framing that out first lent itself to asking (and answering) the right questions.
Definitely questions that leaned into industry-knowledge and even if it’s “strategy” (growth opportunities, how to approach xyz problem, etc), it is very grounded in technical know-how about the industry. aiming for Director level roles (in industry) though so perhaps not surprising
