Columbia MBA Students - what are your living expenses (not including rent and utilities) like every month? Just trying to get a sense

Come from a no money family & limited financial savvy. What’s an easy way to open and manage a personal investment fund so my savings makes me more money, similar to my Roth 401k. Thanks in advance!

Have never invested outside of 401k. Think I may start being able to put ~$500 in the market each month. Where / how do I start?

Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.

For overseas ACCA accountants who have relocated to the US and have become US CPA's, how do you compare the difficulty level of the ACCA exam versus the CPA exam ?

Currently renting for ~ $1500/mo in a low COL city. My lease ends in Dec and am looking to purchase a property and get into rental game. I have $40K in bank, but I’m not sure what my max investment should be or will be approved for. Would it be feasible to keep renting and also try to rent out a purchased rental property given my liquid cash?

Stock market is crazy! What to buy now?

Curious if anyone has invested a big amount in one stock let’s say buying 150k of CRWD in may based on gut or conviction however you may put it. Want to have a discussion around lessons learnt and ways to derisk.

How much has stock options changed anyone’s life here? Just started at amazon and I received 1500 shares post split. But obviously the vesting schedule is so long over 4 years and morale certainly will be up and down. I feel I’d be crazy to walk away before then and miss out.

I'm interviewing with KKR for a Principal role in their real estate group. All online salary resources are all in alignment with a total comp of $200k+. I'm assuming based on the average salary reported across these portals for principal that those figures apply to the RE group as well. Currently an engineer in MCOL area with 4 years experience (post graduating, not counting experience before/during college and large side gigs). I have a BS/MS/PhD in engineering and an MBA in business analytics. Currently making 100k as an engineer IV. As an engineer with a functional knowledge (but no former training) in IT and data analytics, what are the best avenues to get to 200k without changing fields and starting at an entry level position (or moving to a HCOL area)?

What is the obsession and appeal for MBB among MBA grads? Is it really that amazing - from afar it seems like it may be romanticized (maybe not the right word) among applicants. I know it’s way better than the work I do now, so I’m not knocking MBB at all. It’s super impressive. Maybe a better way to phrase it is that MBA applicants seem to have a fairy tale view of consulting as a whole. I get the impression that people think a job in consulting is a magic ticket anywhere
