How is the WLB of valuation comparing to FDD?
Val and FDD will be comparable exits at associate / senior level. Val will give you better modeling skills, FDD better understanding of closing processes. Pick which end you prefer and you’ll be fine coming out of either.
AAS roles will focus you towards technical accounting roles. Very different focus and line of service
I’m concerned that I was so desperate to get out of audit that I may have pigeon-holed myself.
Can’t speak to EY, but it all lumps into CMAAS for us. Those roles can fit into technical accounting or IPO readiness jobs. Both are still accounting roles, but the IPO readiness usually relates to ensuring GAAP compliant policies and assisting with filing the S-1
@kpmg1 when you say AAS can land finance ish stuff depending on the project. What’s your opinion of a transaction focused team?
That’s exactly what I mean. IPO readiness, divestures, carve outs etc. are some of the more interesting projects
How’s AAS WLB?
@EY 3 been with CG for a few months and I love it. TA practice
In AAS people leave for industry to director/VP of finance, technical accounting, CAO/CFO and controller. Fewer go mm ib. Seen a few go to M7 MBA’s. These groups are small so I don’t really think anyone who hasn’t actually worked in it knows where people are going.
All good roles to jump to, assume you are in audit/tax rn
FDD/Val for finance exit opps
AAS for technical accounting ones (tho depending on projects you can also land finance ish ones too)
Does AAS involve a lot of memo writing?
Would you think that’s consistent across all firms?
I’m currently audit at KPMG looking to make the jump into FDD or our “transformation delivery”. Any insight would be appreciated since I drank the audit koolaid. I want to get tf out of accounting lmao… I enjoyed the project for the client idea but not excited about the technical accounting part. Have experience doing IPO audits.
