Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Think less about your ideal things and more about your ideal life. I’ve lived in big houses and small houses and found happiness in both places. A difficult / stressful lifestyle is much harder to find happiness through than a smaller house.
ding ding ding - this is the response; assuming since you're at EY, a 20% paycut will still be a very reasonable lifestyle as long as you have that in check.
A big ol' house won't make you happy long-term.
What’s the PTO restriction?
Also, don’t forget, you’re shifting from a nontechnical role to a technical one. Your perceived value goes up quite a bit after a couple years, typically, so you might be able to bridge the salary gap
I did that thinking less money less stress but it ended up being more stress cause less money and the allure wears off quick and you realize you set yourself back a few years
Tbh if you’re under 30 or even in your low 30’s i would suck it up and chase the money. You can shift to a better hours gig later on and spend time with family, but wealth is a lot harder to create when you get older
