What would you gain by not taking the contract job? Whatever it is, that value needs to be more than what they will be paying you, or you are needlessly spending money that you may very well need at some point.
I am almost 7 months into unemployment, and our house is on the market because there no money left to pay the mortgage. I have been turned down by "perfect" roles and by lesser roles, and there's no telling how much longer it will take to land something. My story isn't unique, many people are out of work for months upon months at this point.
Appreciate the insights! It’s hard to gauge in this market so trying to get an idea of what people have experienced, appreciate you being so transparent!

Take the contract and keep interviewing. Since your unemployment ran out before you found another job you already know finding a role is a long process. You may not even find a job during the length of the contract.
Take the bird in the hand. Get money which was better than unemployment pay out. You can now search for a job and be in a much stronger position. Less gap in resume. Time to upskill. Less pressure.
lol this is question can’t be serious.
Take the contract. I was laid off from a startup and was very picky about my next role then the market shifted against me after I got an offer pulled. It did push me to grad school and to pursue professional sports which were both goals and dreams of mine. It’s been very hard to get back into product.

Take the contract and keep interviewing. Especially if it’s wfh. As long as you don’t think it’ll interfere with you being able to interview.
