I moved from litigation at 2.5 PQE to a primarily transactional role. I enjoyed it. It was a totally different pace and I felt a lot more in control day to day. After two years, I felt a bit bored. It was easy enough to go back to litigation. Now 10PQE and still litigating. I learnt a lot from doing something different and I feel it made me a better lawyer. Knowing that I can always change lanes again can make it easier to cope with the demands.
Your hours sound tough. In-house would be better I’m sure.
WFH might be a blessing with children but can make it difficult to stay connected with colleagues and the broader profession.
Ultimately, I think you have to trust yourself and know that if it’s not for you, you can make the move back. If now isn’t the time - you got this offer and could probably get another in a year or two.
This is greatly appreciated advice thank you. New employment contract all signed! Looking forward to in-house.
