An afternoon without meetings. Seems like a trap?
What are the best Sales books y’all read?
I want to apply to some of the PwC consulting roles and see a lot of the roles as Strategy& and then some that aren’t. Do engagement teams typically have a mix of people from both parts of the firm or how is there a line drawn between the type of work I would do? Are there some MC PwC teams that always work on strategy& type engagements?

Deloitte isn't crazy hours and it is good job security. I avg about 48-52 hours/week, and have been through two economic crashes with no issues (2008 and 2020). Yes there were layoffs but I actually think i have more job security than BAH - my friends there used to get 2 week letters when their projects were ending (this is after Carlyle group).

With your MBA + work experience you should get around 175 k at D
Your work life balance depends largely on your client and project. You should expect 40-45 hours for client work (GPS) and 2-15 hours for firm initiatives/business development any given week. For commercial you should expect up to 45-65 hours per week.
You should expect the bottom end for all of those ranges on average, and the upper end as exceptions during surge efforts.
Happy to provide a referral!
MBA is not from an M7 school. Virginia Tech. Was an in-person 2 year full-time equiv program (I did it part time over the course of 3.5 years). Comprehensive curriculum-wise and definitely not one of the online for-profit degree mills, but not very competitive to get into.
I’m working 35-45 hours a week with Accenture Strategy. $240k one year out of my MBA.
Supply Chain
In my experience it will mostly depend on your project. Deloitte is huge, I know people who work 45 - 50 hours, some are fully remote and therefore do not work much, and some work around 60 hours depending on the time of the year.

Accenture Federal pays more than Booz and we rarely work more than 40 hours
I know many, including myself, who switched from BAH to D for good reason. More pay, more opportunities, more upward mobility, more perks, etc. That said, there is a cost - main ones being the expectation for everyone to do business development / firm initiative work like proposals, as well as up or out push. If you're good at managing time and setting boundaries and expectations, your work hours won't be much worse than BAH, but it WILL be worse as you'll need to do you daily 8 hours + firm initiative time. There are talent models where you don't need to do firm initiatives or continue leveling up, but they are generally second class citizens in the firm in terms of benefits and comp.
KPMG for WLB, less stress and better pay.
OP which offering are you looking at for D? Comp and WLB will vary across the firm between GPS/Commercial and Advisory/Consulting. Another thing to note is the D will determine your level based on relevant YOE and not total.
Deloitte has crazy hours got me 🤣
What are your typical hrs at mckin?
If you want a referral to Accenture federal services, DM me. Pay is better and virtually no one works over 40 hours per week
What is travel like? And are they hiring for seniors?
Op- check out tech consulting at Ey. Base comp would be around 175k as an experienced SC, and WLB is pretty solid (40/wk plus periodic proposal work).

Piggybacking off this - I’m at 175k TC as an SC (5 YOE). Joined Slalom from Big 4. Expect pretty bad raises going forward. Thoughts on when it makes sense to boomarang? Imagine I couldn’t get much more than this until I’m able to join as an M.
Rising Star
Yup, figured as much. Not worth moving for less than 200k base right now.
Think I’ll be able to pull off a promo to principal (M equivalent) next summer right at 6 YOE then boomerang as an M
You’d likely make a lot more than 20-30k more at Accenture. We pay consultants with a couple years of experience more than that.
120k is severely underpaid. Where did you get your MBA?
Virginia Tech’s evening program. Comprehensive curriculum-wise, but not super competitive to get into.
10 YOE with b-school should be 200k+
Go get your worth OP because your pay is way too low!!
Yeah I went to Virginia Tech. MBB firms don’t lineup to catch our graduates in the same way they do for M7 programs.
Pro
What market are you in?
I have the same YOE maybe a bit better MBA (not that it matters a ton at BAH other than allowing for me not to get my PMP) and make 25k more.

Okay Fed, we haven’t used that term in awhile so I get you’re not plugged in 100%
DM me sub account 2 is about to pop this next year and will need support to for growth targets.
At the end of the day, Fed is Fed and WLB will depend on the team.
BAH pays peanuts. Left BAH for Deloitte GPS. 3 YOE, no MBA, $85 to $132 + bonus, 40-45 hrs. a week, southwest/MCOL, fully virtual.
OP, what are your hours like now?
D7 what was the early promo to M, 2 or 3 years?
Depending upon your skillset and experience your position/level will be offered, which will decide the expected utilization target for the year. For commercial projects you are expected to 45-50 hours a week. For most of Federal projects working hours are from 40-45 hours.
If you join USDC/ deliver centers you have good amount of time to search for a new project unlike in delivery models where you have only 2 weeks. Hope this will help u make a decision. Happy to refer too.

It actually depends on utilization target - with OPs experience I wouldn't expect them to come in as an A or C. Manager util is 80% which is 36/week, with another 10 hours on firm stuff (as an example).
Not crazy all time. It depends on what is the project, who is the client, and who is the manager. If all good you’ll have a perfect job, salary, and career growth
