Currently an international tax consultant in top 10 firm with 3 years of experience, its about time I move to law firm. Any advice/tip on getting started?

I ended up going back to public accounting, but when I was going through the decision to jump to a law firm, I first figured out where I wanted to practice, location-wise. I then did my research on every firm in my target city that focused on tax work. I then checked websites to see if there were any openings. If there were no job postings I mailed physical resumes and cover letters (this was 9 years ago, not 40 years ago, I swear).

A lot is going to depend on where you want to be located. I was relocating to a smaller city to be closer to family so it was rough and the options were limited. I did not find recruiters to be helpful in my market. In the end, I ended up at a small tax law firm, which is what I wanted but my boss at the law firm was not the best—he loved to scream at associates. I hope you end up with a better experience than I did. Good luck!

My advice is to go work in Big4 in your preferred market, network, then jump to law.

I often see Big 4 lawyers jump to local Big Law in my MCOL market but never once have I seen it happen by someone coming from a “Top 10.”

Difficult and personal question.

Hello Fishes,

I am new to the investing world. I have invested some 80k in Nifty fifty index funds. I wanted to increase my investment in other MFs and stocks.

Can you advise how to start it considering short term and long term financial goals.

Short term goals - like for 2-3 years

Long term goals - like for 5-6+ years or more depending upon the performance

I have seen multiple you tube videos but seems to get confused on how to start and which funds to pick.

Thank you!

Hi everyone, I have a quick question that’s kind of silly. I work at a pretty small company leading marketing. My title is technically Marketing Lead but I want to put Head of Marketing on my LinkedIn etc. I think of these titles as totally interchangeable—I just like the way the second one reads better. I know titles don’t really matter, but I’m battling a little bit of imposter syndrome.
