Currently have 2.5 yoe. Saw a role for ‘strategy analyst’ at my dream firm that says 1-2 years of experience minimum. Would this be a backwards move?

If it’s a different/better service line and a better firm I’d say no

like

Bet thanks all - will reach out to the recruiter now. It’s for a firm I got turned away from even after all interviews since ‘they didn’t have budget for it at that moment (November). I’ll say put me in play! Hopefully a quick interview process

like

Good luck!

No just apply. You won’t look back. -0.5YOE is nothing

Send it

At this point, all things considered in the world , do what makes you happy!

Note: I would be sure to negotiate salary to match experience, and also ensure you’ll be positioned to grow professionally (ie timely promotions/leadership experience). Thus, no matter the title, the work is of value to you, and you are considered valuable to the firm. If all aligns, explore the opportunity! Sounds like it could be mutually beneficial.

like

Probably not. But even if it is, you shouldn’t put that much weight on short term stuff like that

like

Context: I did make a move that was a “step back” and my income tripled in 1.5 years

like

Probably not, at least if that's the only data point. 1-2 is the minimum for consideration. The average of candidates or hires is probably higher.

Hello mates,
Just joined Infosys on Monday and got a call today for an opening in Unilever project. The person mentioned that I will be replacing another resources for now who is on medical leave and would be working on something that is a little below my skill level. Once that resource is back (after 2-3months) I would be transitioning to a better role with more options to look and learn.

As I'm very new here, should I be trusting the word of mouth? It all happened over call. Please suggest

The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

So I was using my work laptop to edit and submit my resume and some ppt files for my job applications. My boss and VP came to know and put me in a room to talk about it. This happened to anyone before

Got the following offers on the table:

1. Big 4 - Manager, $180k + $20k sign on, told a good expectation is 12-15% bonus next year. 1.5% 401k match and 3% pension contribution. First year cash would be around $225k
2. New, well funded advisory arm of an established business - Engagement manager, $210k, 20-25% bonus. 2.5% 401k match. First year cash closer to $250k

Big 4 is a defined path with history, reputation, and exits. Other place is largely unknown but a lot of comp.
