McKinsey & Company I am an EM at a boutique firm specializing in strategy for B2B tech cos (e.g. Microsoft, aws). I have 4 years consulting exp (3 years pre MBA, 1 year post) with TC of 220K.
I am considering applying for McK as I am currently capped on progression at my firm for a while. Any insight if it would be worth entering the Associate position or at this point I'm too deep into consulting to justify stepping back down

What do you do in industry today and why are you looking to move?
EM1, a few to begin with - analytical thinking, disambiguation of given complexity, ability to break down a problem in bite sized next steps, data driven assessment, hypothesis based assessment, storyboarding and ability to articulate messaging across stakeholder groups, ability to turn around things quickly, progress over perfection approach, true iterative thinking, outside in thinking, ability to think big picture at times.. these may sound a mouth full but you do this in typical consulting gigs every day and is very valuable in industry leadership roles. On top of this if you are able to build subject matter in either technology or business domain, you will be a rockstar !!
