If you find it super boring now, it’s definitely not going to get any more exciting by going to industry 🤷🏼♀️
Oh you can make that decision. If you aren’t going to enjoy either why wouldn’t it be worth it t make more money?
Working as a senior IT auditor at a bank would feel a lot more monotonous and boring compared to your current role. I personally suggest that you to continue with your current role, gain experience doing multiple kinds of projects and make way through Google/Microsoft.
Sorry I didn’t mention to that I basically have worked on all kinds of engagements: cybersecurity, SOC 1&2, IT Internal Audit, SWIFT assessment, FAIT. 90% of my experience are channel 2 e agreements.
If you're in Risk, just transfer to IT Risk. Going to a bank isn't going to help you. Talk to a partner you trust about moving, if that's what you want. EY would rather have you transfer instead of leave. I do this all the time within practices.
Helpful- I saw you were doing Risk, so I took it as internal audit. If you're doing FAIT work, it's easy to do Ch2 support work. The reverse is also true. If neither is good for you, talk to leadership about making a move to what used to be risk consulting or to cyber. Assuming you're a high performer, the firm would rather have you move within the firm than leave. You have nothing to lose, assuming you want to stay.
If you find it audit boring you sure you want it to be your career goal?
Emmm like I mentioned I the question, it’s the work at EY. Because I don’t have full autonomy on what I will work next. Not the whole IT audit stuff. I’d like to be IT audit/GRC in tech industry. Or cybersecurity analyst, TPM stuff.
You have the background that gets hired into Internal Audit and IT compliance roles all the time at Microsoft. You could just apply.
Often when they have hiring freeze they then to use contractors more. You could move to a firm in Seattle or San Jose and try to work on non-audit projects at your target company.
