Looking for advice fish fam. Deloitte vs EY-P. Same level - Manager/Director. EY-P pays $50k more for base and maybe $10 to $20k more as bonus. Currently at Deloitte. Is the extra $60-$70k worth giving up my network? Plan to stay in Consulting and hope to make SM/SD. I have a family and my wife is a homemaker. So money does matter. So I’m only contributing to 401k enough to get employer match, and I’m saving an additional ~20% and putting 90% of that into my vanguard mutual funds. Reasoning is that I don’t want to lock away all that money maxing out 401k. Have 3 months expenses liquid in a savings account. Is this really dumb? Essentially trading tax for the option of actually using my money.

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."
