Deloitte BTS vs. EY GCR corporate tax teams (compliance & provision)

If the total compensations are the same, which one is better in terms of culture, WLB, employee benefits, etc for the senior associate/manager position? Since I was severely burned out in the past few years, I want to make sure that I make a right decision this time to work in a team with sustainable work schedule and relatively healthy culture where I can work for about 3 to 4 years? Thanks!

Pay your dues for a few years in big 4 specializing in ASC 740 and you'll have tons of opportunities. I'm living the dream in industry with minimal overtime and half day fridays.

But nobody wants to major in accounting anymore 😆 so don't worry, your expertise will only get more valuable over time.

likefunny

You will need to list an office to get a better response. I can tell you that in GCR it’s felt like busy season for more than two years now. Seniors and managers working a lot more than 4-5 years ago.

Yikes…I want to live longer😢

It’s big four compliance groups, be prepared to work for 70+ hours.

Ever thought about other than compliance group?

10-K and 10-Q was just an example. Private companies still have statutory deadlines. Just because you’re private, doesn’t mean the SEC has authority.

Deloitte has no real compliance only or provision only group if you’re in BTS. Be prepared to do one or the other.

You can go cross functional BTS inside IM/BCM and do ASC740 and K1,3/1065

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
