And they took it!? Is the work/life balance in fed really worth the $60k differential?
@OP good luck.... but I had an experienced hire colleague who was leaving the firm, D countered to bring up to peer level at year end....didn't even come close; 10k under promise
There is no work life balance in federal. Oftentimes your contract only allows you to bill 40 hours a week. You have to perpetually write proposals that always lose on price in this LPTA environment we are in. You lose most nights and many weekends to RFIs and RFPs. You get promoted much later. You get paid less. There are no dinners or client dinners. The margins are low AF. Sometimes projects are straight up not profitable. Nothing makes up for the pay difference.
So you didn't really have consulting experience. That makes a difference.
Please tell me! Haha why LOL? This is a wage gap issue here- help a 🐠 out 💻💁🏻🤓👠
That's pretty underpaid for strategy, didn't see the federal part of it but still. New grads are getting starting salaries of 75k+
A reference point - S&O SCs out of school start at 140.
Public sector is the worst. All the hours. Way more of the BS. Less pay. No perks. Well... I guess one perk is seeing your work being used as testimony in congress.
Ok, this salary request is for Deloitte Federal S&O. The highest salary in this bandwidth that I know of is $102k and the lowest is $82k.
Are you sure? I just got promoted to a consultant and I make 90K in federal...
And I thought I was underpaid at $115k. MBA hires get ~$145k
I'm at 71k. My title is not yet SC, but that is because they hired me at an offensively low everything. Still thankful for my experience here, but time to make this fair.
It's fed. The work is so slow. The government sucks. I was in the fed govt for 9 years which is why I got into commercial consulting. Remember that when you vote.
Ok, it sounds like $82k is the smallest amount that anyone has ever heard a SC make
I was offered $95 as an SC in HC Fed....in 2010
A2- my spouse is finishing grad school. I meant that this salary is not enough to support two people in the DC area and that is backed-up by all objective measures. Did you think that I meant kids and you were against that or something?
LOOOL
And that is excluding bonuses
I used to make 86 as a consultant in fed S&O and that was like 4 years ago brocha. They playin you
Dude, I am making way less than this and I am trying to figure out the bottom of the bandwidth to negotiate myself up
I had a friend with an MBA who got an offer for $82k in federal S&O recently
