And they took it!? Is the work/life balance in fed really worth the $60k differential?
@OP good luck.... but I had an experienced hire colleague who was leaving the firm, D countered to bring up to peer level at year end....didn't even come close; 10k under promise
No she didn't take it
I don't have work life balance. I am writing this from the office on Friday night. Ok, I have some, now.
Is fed that low? Crazy
@op same
When you are 60k less than a fresh mba
It's hard to believe
D4, tell me about it. I have a masters from a strategic school that is ranked #1 in its field too. I'm the primary breadwinner for my family and I can't support us on this salary.
I need help to fix this. Financially, I can't survive on this and my work responsibilities and profile don't match my title.
Depends if you are campus or experienced hire -- campus hire federal analysts are making 76-86k out of undergrad. As an experienced hire coming into federal, expect maybe 90k-ish for SO. federal experienced hires get fuckedddddddd on salary. Can never make it up unless you boomerang
Yep, experienced hired. Yes, Fucked with a capital F
Yup. I was at $80 at BAH before that offer.
@op where did you come from and how many yes exp
Yrs*
Combo of Fortune 500, Federal Gov't, and non-profit experience. Approx. 8 years of solid experience and degrees from top schools (undergrad is a top 12 liberal arts and grad was ranked #1 in field and firm strategic school). Between grad school and D, I did an academic/policy fellowship of my own original research with a high ranking ambassador. That's prob what dinged me on compensation, but it was a once a lifetime opportunity.
Agreed, it does, but an$20-$30k difference? I'm asking in all seriousness because I want to ask for what is reasonable. I know many in the firm who also didn't have previous consulting experience who are still making more
Was all for ya OP until you said you can't support a family on what you make.
Guessing OP is in DC where $113k is the threshold for not worrying about $. That was my limit and I have zero kids!
BCG is hiring.
Thanks, SC. I know... I have heard so many stories like that. They say "year end," but that refers to April through August, which is five months, witch is pretty much half of a year.
