Did Deloitte truly go fully remote ?

If they did, there will be pros and cons. I wonder if your intent is to be remote if they adjust your pay in the hiring process?

Seems the beauty of what Deloitte did is to give people who want to go in that flexibility and people who don’t the flexibility to do that too. So the employee is empowered to choose which is FAR better than KPMG telling us we have to go in 4 days every two weeks. The logistics of the “2 days in a week” thing with a family is ridiculous. Daycares don’t cater to “two day a week” children, number one. Number two, parking. Number three, meeting coordination and making dr appts, etc. Just tell people to decide where they work best, like Deloitte, and leave it at that.

And this creates more jobs in America. We need new meter maids more specialized in tracking compliance…

I think it’s UK only.

It is. I doubt Dan will co-sign this 😔

I love those responses. Big consultant energy.

Everything about the Twitter thread is uncomfortable. - there's this idea that everyone wants to be remote 100% of the time, which is...just not really true. There's pros and cons to both, and MBB consultants aren't all going to hop ship just to be remote. - Nobody takes themselves as seriously as consultants when they get to flex prestige from the company they work for. Seriously, there's more to life than a brand.

Why are consultants so intimidated by Deloitte that they need to constantly disparage its name

funny

Yeah, don't work at Deloitte but I have met people many people who do and they aren't any more arrogant or rude than anyone else I've met in consulting. Not sure where this stereotype comes from? Disagree with the intimidated part though lol. I don't think anyone is scared of the big D

Guess not everyone from McK is jumping ship then xD

Working remotely from home doesn’t help pay the mortgage of the house i’m working from, if anything my costs now go up. How about Deloitte pay us competitively or in a cohort model like those consulting firms that this clown on twitter took shots at?

I mean D5 is definitely right here. I traveled full time for 7 years before COVID and it is financially beneficial. You don’t pay for meals or gas and accrue miles / points to make vacations cheap. And there’s other perks beyond that even that Accenture had for travelers. So yea, if you were used to traveling and now you don’t, your costs definitely go up. I get why people want to WFH forever, I personally don’t. More because I like the in-person interactions than the cost savings. But it was a nice perk.

Well good to know I'll never work for Deloitte UK

UK only

Isn’t this just applying to working out of Deloitte offices? And if so, why is it a big deal? Do you guys have to go into your offices for non-client reasons?

like

Lmao am I the only one missing why there is so much vitriol towards Deloitte in the responses? I know there “better” brands, but thought D was still respectable. These distinctions seem arbitrary and petty after a point

like

it’s bc of their responses on this app

For Advisory, we were told we need to “collocate” on an as needed basis. So figure out what your project requires and do whatever you want otherwise.

I was told I can be remote as long as I want to be.

Not UK only. Canada too

Deloitte US is virtual till Sept 6 only.

D-Day? Finest hour? I’m sure we’re all hearing these ridiculous references on the news to the fight on Covid and the vaccines. Sounds sacrilegious to me. Recklessly traveled in droves over Thanksgiving. Sorry, but just an observation about the hubris that brought out the worst in too many people.

Back on the market and I’m coming to find two things: 1. Less desirable agencies are the ones who want people back on-site soon, with no wiggle room for remote work. 2. These same agencies want to pay salaries based on COL in the city where the agency is based even if you’re working/living from another market in the interim. Example: Midwest based agency paying Midwest salaries to folks living in places like NY, SF, LA. 🧐🧐🧐🧐

Horrible headshots coping mechanisms - lay it on me. The firm decided to schedule new headshots at the worst possible time (WFH 15 I’m struggling to get off, none of my suits fit, my hair girl accidentally took my blonde too dark). Proofs came back and they are godawful - the photographer put me in the most awkward positions, so I look uncomfortable AND like an overstuffed sausage. I want to asinine for reshoots but I’m worried he’s going to make the exact same errors.

Anyone just getting tired of their partner on a whole new level with WFH? I feel like we are getting into spats more, I'm getting more resentful of the lack of even workloads/effort, and to top it all off these tensions are literally invading my personal space! Not looking for advice really. Just wondering if anyone else is feeling partner fatigue more now than the Before Times.

I know we all love the work from home (or do we?) but does anyone actually miss traveling for their consulting engagements and all the fun that goes along with it? The late nights at the office then the bar and random hookups and excitement and all that? Sure it’s a grind but I think I actually miss it too. Maybe I just miss seeing people at work or seeing people at all. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to that.

Need to move to the burbs w/fiancee, but where? Staying in BK is not an option, though we will eventually work in the city 1-2 days/week (someday?). Won't do long island, need a 2 car garage w/space to work on cars and also space for a woodshop whether it's in basement or elsewhere. Planning on having kids and because we'll work from home a lot still need office space. I grew up in burbs and it wasn't so bad because I lived walking distance to train station into the city & nice downtown. 800k!

Lots of post about kids so I’ll offer one that’s been on my mind. Why more than one kid? I grew up with a sibling. She is my best best friend but as I’ve gotten older realized we were more of the exception. Lucky that we are same gender (which I do think impacts closeness), that we are close in age, and just clicked like bffs. Have since met so many sibs with non existent and toxic relationships. More kids = more expense. After passing on genes and getting love of a child, why have more than one

The email basically stated that they were concerned that I was over working myself and the course would not be reimbursed at this time maybe in April that would be after they reevaluate the situation. My question here is should I be concerned I’m a target.
