To my knowledge, he got hired in as an Associate and was a crazy high performer who made partner really quick
This is true. He made it very fast.
He was at McKinsey for 7 years. I think it’s possible to make Partner in 7 years, if you’re a high performer.
High performance-standard for us would be 5.5-6 years to Partner, 6.5-8 years to MDP (with equity and a vote). On the margin, McK 6-12 months faster to the equity position.
No, he just worked through the levels quickly. He was 2-3 years ahead of me at Booth, and I met him during recruiting. Sharp guy, exactly what you would expect from a high performing EM/AP.
No I mean all articles I’ve read on him imply he was hired in as a Partner, is that true?
False
PR can also just be poorly written. A former colleague was just named CFO of a small public company. The press release said he ‘has X years leading finance organizations’ more where X was his total YOE. He certainly wasn’t leading a finance org during his time in i-banking or MBB
I actually had the same question. I think C1 is right but the journalists just don’t understand his LinkedIn page. I could be wrong though, if he had strong connections that would bring in work for Mck, maybe it’s not impossible.
He made partner within 6 years... super fast. Started as an Associate. Seems like a great guy.
