Do referrals carry an merit in a hiring decision? I know that they don’t make any impact if they’re from a young professional but was wondering if like a referral from a MD or partner could impact a decision

You still need to “pass” the interviews, but real referrals matter.

like

No. They'll help you get the interview, but don't guarantee you getting the spot.

I've interviewed a couple relatives of ppmds and recommended that they actually be brought in a level below what they were applying for because they weren't right for the role.

That’s still better than no offer though no?

like

Always better to apply with a referral if possible. That being said once you secure an interview I wouldn’t think twice about it. All on you from then on. Good luck!

Billables as a mid-level IP litigation associate at Big Law, AM100, and AM200 firms? I’m currently doing 60% patent prosecution, 40% litigation at a mid-sized IP boutique and am considering lateraling for a patent litigation position, but I’m concerned about work life balance, especially since my SO and I are expecting. I currently have a 1900 target, and I routinely bill about 2000. I’m interviewing at DLA, Saul Ewing, Honigman, and Fox Rothschild (all DC offices).

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

Hello everyone ,
I’m currently working in insurance customer service at an agency. I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ??? I hear a lot of talk about how claims adjusting is a lot of work and very demanding but I think my current position has prepared me for the challenge. What are some good companies I maybe should apply for after getting my license?

Controversial question - what are some roles/functions to avoid at Google for ex-management consultants, in terms of potential under-utilization of skills and limited career progression? Common exit opps tend to be in StratOps, PMM, PgM/Solutions Consultant, roles in Sales; would anyone not recommend any of these roles?

Hello there! I currently work in billing at a medical office. I got my Bachelors in Psychology a few years ago but I couldn’t find a position that seemed like a good option for me that was well paying and fulfilling. I tried working as a tech at an Applied Behavior Analysis clinic but it wasn’t a good fit. I’m hesitant to try case management or social work because I worry I won’t like it but I want to use my degree in Psychology. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Hey guys,

Currently in Saas sales for MDM and AV, but I'm getting tired of the sales side and constant budget chase. Probably also because we get few leads and I have to do a lot of building pipeline from scratch. I'm thinking about taking some online courses to try to move over to cyber security, what would be the easiest step that way career wise- preferably also away fro sales?
