Do sales engineers need to create their own slide decks for demos or can they walk through the software itself? Thanks!

At my company they use the software and do walkthroughs! That way it’s more dynamic. If someone asks a question you can click around and show them versus a static slide deck. It’s also cool if you can show them the platform as they’d see it (with their email address or company name as a user ID).

Coming from experience, make sure your SE shows the software from a demo environment. Do not use slides to show/demo the product. I repeat do not use slides to demo. I’ve been escorted out of meetings for not having a demo environment and considered a “waste of time” for the execs in the room. If your demo isn’t ready for show, I would postpone the meeting.

True story. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Slides should only be used to create curiosity about the live demo. That's the salesperson's job. Your job is to deliver to the curiosity that's been created via the live demo.

Hey Team, I am looking for a new role where I can leverage my skills/experience as a Sales Coach/Trainer/Facilitator. My current experience is in the technology space (8+ years).

Additionally I bring value from a recruiting side having personally trained 250+ AE's and pride myself on the relationships I am able to build/maintain with them and their leadership/stakeholders.

Open to various industries, with personal interest in Sales Tools, Restaurant Tech. Willing to travel, can't move.

If I have to book 20 meetings a month, how many conversations do I need to be having a day ( email, LinkedIn, cold calls, dark social ) with a drop out rate at 20%.

I’ve been a club performing rep for years at a SaaS company…but as an enterprise account exec… my average deal size is around $75k in annual recurring, quota of $1M. This is inline for my company but low when I speak with others for Enterprise rep openings. Any thoughts on recommendations for steps to bridge that gap?

Just hit 1 year as a bdr at my company, and I wanted to hear opinions on the position I was put in.

I was 1 of 2 out of 30 on my team to hit quota last half. I was told to expect a promotion to enterprise BDR and a pay raise, with a slightly lower quota. Instead I got no title change, no new letter, my quota increased 58%, and I can only work enterprise accounts. I now have the highest quota in the company, most difficult job, as one of the lowest paid bdrs. Does any of that sound normal?

Backstory: started with a company back in July. Negotiated a very competitive salary package, I was able to work out a guarantee to take a draw for the first 6 months until I get ramped. But I have yet to make any real impact for the company within the first 10 weeks. I feel terrible for taking “commissions that I didn’t earn or show any progress”. Would I be an idiot to talk to my vp and say don’t pay my commission until it’s earned?

Anxiety before your sales demos?

Do these 2 things I used to do to get over it:

1. Know the product inside out - it will take time for you to gain confidence in your sales abilities but if you know the product will you’ll be more confident in that domain.

2. Do more demos - the more calls and presentations you do the more comfortable you’ll get. My advice is to try to get on a lot of presentations, even with leads that aren’t so good.
