What are good exit opportunities for ppl in GPS? Is it the same as ppl in commercial services? I've done federal audit and now I'm in federal advisory, and the only ppl who hit me up on LinkedIn or Indeed want me for more federal work. I also spent two years in commercial prior to going government. The immaturity of the practice and client can be challenging, but it's better than perpetually rolling forward last year's work just to update numbers, and most of us actually have an impact on the success of the group.
The complaints about exit opportunities are laughable. That sweet senior accountant job can be done by anyone with two years of experience.
I had a small taste of commercial work when I first started and with that in mind, yes I absolutely enjoy Fed work. Even in Audit, I basically work as a consultant because my client is so ass backwards. It’s nice to perform a procedure and actually use your brain as opposed to just SALYing some bullshit that doesn’t actually make a difference.
