Someone told me KPMG would be good to go to for IT audit. EY won big audit contract for navy. I heard KPMG doesn't pay as well. EY... not sure
If you are talking Fed Audit and not an advisory line, KPMG is hands down the best and I’m not just toeing the company line. I get paid well above my commercial counterparts and work with some really interesting clients. I work very closely with IT on my engagement and they do seem to be a bit of a mess, so I can’t really comment on our stature in that LoS.
After my experience at EY, If I were to stay in fed audit, I’d go to KPMG. Most of my friends from college at at KPMG and I’ve heard some good things about their practice. It’s also been around longer than EYs. Although, EYs practice will probably give you a better chance at making it up the chain. Plus I love EY for the people/my friends
Overall though, I think KPMG has a better culture and better established practice.
EY is the new kid on the block and has kinks, but they’ve won some great new work.
