To the moon…Oh I mean back to earth. Sigh 😞
What exactly do you guys do in consulting?
McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

I just negotiated a salary. My recruiter coached me on how to be diplomatic when talking directly to the company and then I read up before interviews. My favorites:
(1) I'm making a competitive salary
(2) I'm making X, which is not a competitive salary, but took this job because...
(3) according to my research, Associate Directors in X role in our industry make Y-Z, nationally and locally here, about A.
I personally gave my salary info (inflated bonus because we have perks that are like bonus) didn't give an anticipated new #. I told the recruiter my market research #s and how I didn't think what the co. was offering was competitive. The Co. went up a bit to go above my current salary, plus added a signing bonus that they never do, and awesome industry bonus as equity are still in place.

Thanks SA1, you are what we need to make consulting great again
Just give your number higher than you actually want to leave room for negotiation if you will.
I give recruiters a range. I give them my current salary but I tell them I would need x-y to consider a move.
All they need to do is run an equitable and they will get it anyway, be truthful it's a pretty standard background check item to verify and your tax returns are a matter of public record which is where Equinox pulls W2s from
Whenever I speak to a recruiter I make clear what I expect to earn from the new role. Otherwise I just don't continue with the interview . I don't get why I should be offering my services for the low end of the range
Individual tax returns are not a matter of public record.
No
Lol, P4, I'm, for the first time in 6 years and 2 firms, happily leaving consulting. 😉
A5, if you sign the release for the BI I can get your tax return, inside 24 hours.
If I want it as a private citizen I can too by filing a FOIA, just take 7 weeks and you'll have an opportunity to fight it.
Point was it's very easy to verify current salary
