Our Computer Technology students have a sweet tooth so we took them into the Culinary Arts kitchen for an introductory exploration lesson on baking.

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? How do you come up with your labs to make sure they are aligned with the unit.? I feel like I am doing well on EOC scores but I feel like my class is a drag because we just drill concepts and the labs are not making the connections I’d like between the lesson and the activity. It becomes them just following my instruction and not much scientific processing or troubleshooting to come up with the conclusion. I want to make scientist not just students that pass the EOC.

Flew out the morning of a big client pitch instead of the night before. Massive storm delayed my flight and I missed the meeting. Lesson learned fam- always fly out the night before!

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.

Class size is a big deal, in NY a new piece of legislation was signed to bring down student count per class from 34 to 25 over the next few years. How big are your CTE classes? In NYC, they’re typically about 28 students.

Hi! I am currently an Early Childhood Teacher, but I am interested in becoming an Early Childhood Education instructor at a technical high school. It will be a big jump from teaching K to teaching high school students but I am really excited about the possibility of working with the next generation of teachers. What are the best things about CTE? What challenges can I expect?

This summer I will be teaching the two courses required to gain the extension certificate to be a New York State certified Work-based Learning Coordinator. Is there a requirement for additional training to become a WBLC in your location? Is it part of an existing CTE teacher’s responsibility or something else? Do you need a WBLC for your program approval?
