McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company I have my first rounds (2 cases) for a position at the risk practice. Will I be interviewed by consultants in the risk practice? I wonder if I can ask some risk practice specific questions at the end of the interviews. (Didn’t get the names of the interviewers yet so I cannot google)

I decided to do it after comparing between EM offer at McK, SM promo at Big4, and PL at BCG. DM me if you go for it, and we can commiserate!

You can’t know unless you try! Depends how risk averse you are. And ultimately, you’ll be given at least 1 year to 1.5 years to prove yourself. That’s enough tenure to secure a decent exit if you wanted.
Thanks!
Coming in as a PL is tough. It’s probably the hardest job at BCG.
You can do it, but be warned that it’s very common for people to end up transitioned (our version of counseled to leave).
PL is not an IC role. I think it would be challenging to come in at that level and perform well. You'll be rated against your colleagues who are home grown and there would be a chance of getting counciled out if you can't perform.
All IC roles are the same so “as an associate” or “consultant” doesn’t mean much. You’ll just be put in a role for an IC that will depend on the case itself
I did and haven’t personally found it worthwhile. You’re progression will take a hit, you’re WLB will definitely be much worse, your autonomy and ability to independently make decisions will be limited, smaller teams to manage, limited client intersection / collaboration, and despite the claims the quality in types of work / projects is not really different from Big4
