I can understand the frustration. Truth is such situations never change for the better. I've seen people call out favoritism or special treatment at my job and things went south real quick for them. They will never treat you the same, and will also almost never admit to it. This is in no way a reflection on your work ethic or abilities, it's all just politics. So you either stay and live with it or look for a place with more opportunities.
So sad. Often the favorites are the weakest workers, less reliable, often late, cause more drama. As a former leader, I don't understand it. I do however, know that "warm bodies" have become more important because getting people to work is almost impossible. Seems as though employers would rather have unethical and immoral workers with poor work ethic than no one.
That's probably just the reality in any workplace. There will always be favorites, for whatever reason. Some people do get away with more, but, in fairness, sometimes there are unstated and legitimate reasons for that. Some employers, over time, will just gain the trust of managers and thus may appear to be unsupervised in some ways.
Correct
Yeah I agree, I think some amount of favoritism is unavoidable. The right kind of favoritism focuses on elevating people who are doing their jobs well, so rewarding people with greater opportunities because they're doing a good job, not just because of their personalities or style or something

It’s quite mind boggling but whatever lol
It's that way in any workplace. Some employees are favored because of seniority, some because of personality, some out of pity. Managers are people too, and people make decisions based on subjective factors and not objective ones. The key is not to get made because someone else is treated better than they should be. Save your getting mad credits for when you are being treated worse than you should be.

So true !
There will always be someone who sees some sort of unfairness or injustice in every single team… it’s impossible to please everyone. Everyone is human, even your boss/leadership. The brutal truth is that everyone is judged at work, that’s how we come to the results we do in performance reviews and allocate raises.
All you can do is the best you can and try to always assume positive intent, let things go and try not to be a person that offends easily. We should all take the log out of our own eye first… or whatever the saying is.
I’d affirm that keeping to yourself is probably the smartest move.
