Haha !
I don't. Those types of things tend to break up relationships from what I've seen. My spouse would freak if they heard about me having one lol
Nope. I respect and love my wife way too much to be messing around with anyone else at work or even acting flirty with them. Sure, I have people I get along with better both men and women but not once have I tried to take it beyond that. I doubt my wife would appreciate it if she heard that I had a work wife.
I really hate the term, even if it is supposed to be "in fun." The danger is that if two co-workers are so close that someone -- even humorously -- thinks they are acting more like life partners than co-workers, they may actually be too close. The threat of using that term is that it might give one or both an idea that, like the Bonnie Rait song say, "give 'em somethin' to think about."

I def thinks it is asking for trouble myself !
No lol
I've had colleagues use this term in the past. The meaning is platonic workplace relationship that marries in the idea of covering, helping, acts of kindness, and looking out for each other as married couples would do, but in a professional workplace sense. Although it's nice to see colleagues covering for each other, it can also create a divide amongst other staff. This is due to the favouritism of the working relationship between the two staff deemed "work wife" and "work husband" (alternative "work wife & work wife" or "work husband & work husband") and does not always benefit everyone on the team when common curtacy is only extended to certain individuals on the team and not the same with all team members. Also when one of the "work wife"/"work husband" is on a different assignment or away this creates a gap in expectations leaving the other partner leaning on the rest of the team to pick up the missing pieces or feelings of void without the other partner due to the dependency. They may not get the same treatment from other members on the team or are viewed by other team members as burdensome having to carry the extra weight. I've also seen "work wives" being perceived as the domestic house wife cleaning up all the messes for the "work husband" and the "work husband" being requested to take on all the high risk job task just because they are male.
