Yes but that is solely because of them! My parents gave up a lot to make sure that my siblings and I would be successful ❤️
Very impressive!
Yes, but my parents were white trash with various substance abuse and other addiction problems. So, they literally had nothing and the bar was super low. I grew up in a trailer park with various forms of abuse, neglect, etc.
I’m very thankful for my education, career and (now) chosen family.
Yes. From a boat, $200, and sleeping on donated mattresses to ~$1M HHI. I can never forget the sacrifices they made to make my life possible. And I'm always going to be thankful for the chances given to me along the way by people who believed in my work ethic
SO contributes a large amount (~300k as a doctor), and I make a little under 600k (50/50 cash and equity) as a PM leader now. Would be a lot harder without dual income or if we already had kids
Yes
I would say about equal.
No
No, but I’m paying off my debts way faster than they did and I make much more money. Not sure if that constitutes as “wealth”.
My mom is a crazy saver. My dad is a small business owner. Sooooo... maybe one day
Yes, but with the cost of living then vs. now…..not really
Yes because my parents had me at this age and I have no kids
I make more, but I definitely do not have the same wealth as them. I think this is true for a lot of people
It all depends on the what is being considered as wealth. My father had inherited assets that are now worth more in today’s dollars, so it’s a complicated answer. I would say that I have more liquid assets than my dad did my a current age, but none of that would be possible without him or my grandparents.
Yes, by a lot but mainly because they busted their assess and I took the opportunities very seriously. Their net worth was probably $50k combined. Mine is already $200k at 28 with a salary of $215/yr.
Let me go upstairs and ask them.
No.
Son of immigrants here, my parents came to the US in the late 70’s with literally $50.00. They put themselves through school while working and sacrificed tremendously for my siblings and I. We grew up in a tiny 900 sq ft apartment for half our lives. They are the American Dream. They now own their home in California, are retired, and doing well. But they didn’t have even remotely close to what my siblings and I have now. We owe it all to them and we show it. My brother and I both make 7 figures a year, my sister is the low earner as a pediatrician haha.
Institutional Investing, middle eastern, 39, Illinois, state college, nothing exotic for cars, but have a sick watch obsession/collection.
Is this a trick question?
My parents bought their house in California back in the 80’s for $50k it’s worth $400k now. No, I do not have their wealth.
No. My folks had the Bill Clinton 90s markets. They bought land on the edge of suburban expansion, and lake property before it was a thing.
My dad's first year of teaching he made $5k. At my age he made $55k. I would need to be making $220,000 to match his middle class income based on my first career teaching job.
Which set of parents? I have 3 sets!
Wowow. That’s a lot of parents!
Yes
No
Probably but only because they had business school debt
Yes. I have three parents (mom dad and stepmom) and made more than all three of their salaries combined last year.
Dont come from much but damn did they do their best.
