Smoking raises your risk of almost every health issue. Not to mention it makes you smell and more and more places don’t allow it so it’s very inconvenient. What are the reasons to smoke?
You're a consultant. You can figure it. I'm shocked this is an actual topic. Doing a simple Google on health impacts of smoking would give you the right answer.
I smoked from the ages of 16 to 30. It’s SOOOO hard to quit. Do yourself a favor and get out now. There are no real benefits to smoking cigarettes.
I smoked from 15-26. I stopped when my son was born. I do miss smoking dearly.
Of course you should. There are endless health complications that can occur from smoking.
A few weeks ago I watched a life long smoker breathe his last breaths in the hospital. Trust me… you do not want to go through that.
I don’t smoke cigarettes but I do nicotine pouches. I picked up dipping in college and have transitioned from long cut, to pouches to tobacco free pouches that still contain nicotine. I smoke cigars on occasion.
Regarding health issues I think the effects of smoking are well documented but you have to die of something eventually. If the risks are something you want to live with go for it if not maybe transition to something else. E-cigs and vaping have their own issues so it’s a matter of which risks you want to take and how much you want smoke.
As someone who smoked all throughout their medical school training, I can tell you:
1. It looks super cool.
2. It is undeniably bad for you.
3. As a rare treat it’s okay but if you’re doing it daily please please do yourself a favor and stop.
4. It engages the same rewards circuits as heroin, which means it’s super hard to quit. But please quit anyhow.
5. I drew the line when I read up on the damage it causes to microvasculature…and how that can really hamper sexual performance.
This is subjective, of course.
If you smoke, I’d imagine you would enjoy it. But it’s also an addiction, and like any other substance, requires a real WANT to quit. If you’re on the fence, it’s not likely you’ll be successful in quitting right now.
