How does knowing other people's student loan balances help you?
Comparison is the thief of joy.
In total it took me 8 years to pay off $110k of student loan debt. Admittedly, for 4 of those years I paid the minimum (it’s all I could afford)… then for 4 I paid about 1800 a month and knocked it out.
I think it’s at 44k
28 years old,
5 years this fall
Started out with 42k
Had close to 300k. With MBA, MSACCY, and undergrad. Had to be a pokemon scalper/reseller/vendor to pay it all down. Down to about 40K. Hoping the Pokemon hype still is good for next year or 2.
Had about $60k between undergrad and grad…paid min first 3 years, and knocked out the balance after 4 more by paying aggressively more than amount due. Was audit and forensics for that time span.
I started out as an associate with $30k of debt. Paid it off within ~ 7 years.
32YO
$100k when I started and down to $20k now
Been in public 10 years
Wouldn’t take out any loans for an accounting degree
Some people don’t have much of a choice
I have Plus loans I took out for my child as we didn’t factor in enough for rising tuition costs for undergrad and grad. I am expediting payments will be paid in full in 2 years and 3 months. Can’t wait until Fall 2028. Took advantage of all those interest free Covid months….my student did not go for accounting. We were happy to fund their education. No regrets on our end.
$0 student debt - parents paid 100% for both bachelors and masters
31.5 age
8 years in public accounting
CPA, MBA
Wow that's lucky
Had about 25k from the masters (undergrad and half the masters I was able to pay on my own or used scholarships/grants). I had it paid off in about 3 years after the payments/interest restarted, just paid it off in February! In public accounting for just over 5 years now.
I graduated 2004 with $35,000 (with interest $43,000). My interest rate is 1.65%, I've not been in a hurry to pay it off given my ridiculously low interest rate. Current balance is $5,000. I've been in public accounting for a total of 15 years.
