Not a CFP so I’m not truly in the know. That said, if I’m reading this article right, 10/2019 to maintain your CFP, you will have to drop your 7 license if you are dually registered?
I am looking to drop my series 7 and join an RIA. I’ve finally accepted that the BD environment is a terrible fit for me. I would like to join an RIA team because I’m just over 5 years in and I would like to have some mentors to continue learning from, but if I can’t find the right fit then my plan is to launch my own. Where to start looking for an established RIA? I have not completed my CFP yet.
I don't have anyone else who gets this, but I hit my personal goal this year in almost every category; revenue, income, AUM growth, etc. Our fiscal year ends in October and I ended the year with a bang. Just super excited and I hope everyone else knows, this business is worth it when you put in the time and effort! Edit: also passed CFP in March!
*** CFP Prep Materials *** Is anyone interested in purchasing CFP prep materials? I have Dalton study materials including their course books, their review study books as well as their flash cards.
Out of curiosity, what designations do you have? CFP, CFA, CIMA, ChFC, etc. Do you feel that your having, or not having, a designation has put you at an advantage/disadvantage?
What nuggets of wisdom do you fishes have for someone who is thinking of getting a CPA/CFA or CFP deep into my career (have a different qualification). What is the most straightforward way (self-financed, since I have another qualification)? These would compliment my work as an actuary.
If I'm looking to have the CFP completed 12-18 mths from start date, what would be a solid prep course/program you guys would recommend? Any pref to online classes vs. in-person classes?
For my FAs who are also CPAs (or anyone who knows I guess 😊) - do you know if there is a way to simultaneously get your CPE for the CPA while also preparing for the CFP? Continued in comments...
CFP designation even though not a fee base planner. Do you see any conflicts of interest/ misleading? Should a CFP be required to be a fee based planner?
Any recommendations for a CFP self-study program? Looking for something relatively cheap with good practice questions. No need for live classes. Thanks!
I've done parts of the CFP but couldn't sit for the exam. I am thinking about finishing the requirements to sit, but I am wondering if my time would be better spent prospecting. Thoughts?
Any one use Kaplan to prep for the CFP? I used it for series 7 and 66 and it worked. Just curious if anyone has used it.
I am taking the CFP exam in July. I currently have my RICP but I struggle with how to market the designation. I’m fearful that I will have the same problem with the CFP. What do you do to show people you have these designations aside from having the letters after your name? @
I'm CFP & RIA with 12 yrs experience. My wife and I are planning to relocate from the Big City to a suburb, pop: 75,000. My goal is to open an office there and grow my book to the next level. Advice?
I already am a CFP, now thinking about getting the RICP. Who has it? What's the study time required?
Looking to add a Female advisor to our team. Client facing experience required and work towards CFP is preferred. RIA north of Boston - new business not likely part of the role. email@example.com no calls.

Need to recertify my AWS-SAA cert. any recommendations on best resources given the new test format (SAA-CO2)?
Any recommendations on books/podcasts (and other sources) about CM? Not just to expand technical skills but also soft skills and external consulting?
Interviewed at Big 4. Never discussed compensation, however when i filled out the online app I put a high but ‘safe’ number. They extended an offer with my original amount,is it too late to negotiate?
Analysts who left in their 1st year either (voluntarily or laid off) where did you end up and how long did it take you? Consulting isn't for me and I'm obviously only eligible for entry level roles
Once you change jobs, how do you transfer 401k etc. to a new employer (or elsewhere)? Not sure where I should start ..
Thoughts on staying on a client that you have been on for a while with a manager you like or taking a new role with cooler, new work with a team you don’t know? Is the grass always greener?
Female 🐠 that have divorced. Were you able to recover, especially financially? Looking back would you stick it out? I would primarily be supporting our child since I earn more. Just overwhelmed with the prospect of starting over/carrying everything on my own but the lure of peace/relief/happiness is intense.
Need some advice. Currently 1st year M at 125 base. Got an offer at a small boutique strategy firm for 160base 15-20% yearly bonus. No brainer? Or is it better to stay at ACN or go to another big consulting/tech firm?
Can someone provide link for applying Canadian visitor visa. I am on H1b and need to travel for a weekend for a wedding. The process I found online required medical exam and so many other things. I heard earlier that getting a tourist visa is not that complex
Project leadership is telling teams that they need to fly in the week of thanksgiving and possible Christmas as well. The assumption is that we fly home the day prior to the actual holiday. 😂
W+K is in hot water in Brazil — another instance of ads going wrong because of little empowered-to-speak-up diversity at the table at any stage of the concepting, pitching, greenlighting, production, post-production, finishing, final approval and distribution? Or just a fluke? https://www.campaignlive.com/article/wieden-+-kennedy-brazil-creative-leadership-departs-controversial-work/1727220
I have zero motivation to work out at home (won’t be back to the gym anytime soon where I live) but I know it’s necessary for both my physical and mental health. Any suggestions for motivation and maybe some great at home workouts I could try?? Getting desperate over here!
30 y.o. M here, just changed my 401k allocation from a target retirement fund to 85% S&P500 and 15% international index funds. Anyone think this is stupid? Thoughts appreciated!
Anyone here who started their consulting careers later in life? Always seeing posts about how young people make it to P... wondering about the other stories. I started as a C at 29 (yes, unfortunately, I fall into the bucket of exp hire hired at a lower level...), made M at 33. Doing well but also feeling like I’m already too old to aim to be a P. Hoping for some perspectives.
For those teleworking due to COVID, when did you announce your pregnancy at work? I’m worried I’ll be passed over for opportunities.
Guy behind me in the group 1 line to board the plane - "are you group 1?" - no asshole, I'm just standing here to be a total inconvenience to you. STFU and go to your exit row seat.
