Does anyone else find it difficult to ask for time off? I haven’t taken a “vacation day” since February, billed 185+ hour months consistently through the pandemic (exceeded hours for 2020 bonus eligibility), and am feeling pretty burnt out. It’s hard because other associates in my department haven’t really taken any time off either (or it has been a day or two sporadically). Would really love to take some days over Christmas to recharge but I’m nervous about perception.

So I had HR discussions after tech and managerial round and she said, she will have to get approval from management for salary discussions as it’s on the higher side as per my YOE. Does it mean they will drop my candidature here and now or do I still have any chance ??

I am having a lots of interviews for a first year association position, but unfortunately any concrete offers. I am thinking two are the reasons why: maybe they do not like my accent and how I speak ( English is my second language) or I am asking to much when they ask about the salary range. What are the other reasons that you may mention why a person is refused after the interview? Do you answer when they ask about the salary range? Do you find helpful any sources for I interview skills? Thanks

My significant other is not in law and has an 8am-5pm job that is also rewarding to him. I work in big law. We have been together for four years now and he still cannot accept that my job is different (e.g. that I have to answer emails at night or work on weekends with little advance notice). I somehow feel guilty for not being that present but I also don’t like the fact that I focus less on work due to him. Has somebody been in a similar position? How did/would you handle that?
