During a slow afternoon shift, a kid asked me if I “worked here or just liked the uniform.” Before I could answer, his mom said, “Be nice, he’s the boss.” I wasn’t, but I didn’t correct her. The kid nodded seriously and asked for a discount. I laughed, gave him a sticker, and for five minutes, I was apparently running the place.

Bless that woman for actually making her kid behave in public. That is a very rare thing these days. Most parents at my store let their kids act like it's a playground. It drives me up a wall.

Seriously though—major respect to parents who actually parent in public. It makes such a difference, especially for everyone else around.

Heheh this made me laugh. Kids are so funny and they really do say the darndest things. One thing about it, they are going to tell you how it is.

So true 😂 kids have zero filter and endless honesty—it’s hilarious every time.

hey boss can i get a discount

like

Haha, that’s cute. Kids say the funniest things sometimes

Totally, their honesty and randomness are unbeatable.

By saying you're the boss it makes them behave because of the authority rather than some random worker that nobody cares about so good for them! And you for 5 minutes I suppose 😂

Exactly, sometimes just owning the “boss energy” is all it takes—even if it’s only for a few minutes!

So I've been applying for jobs with various brands who are owned by the same parent company. They are all separate brands but owned by the same company. All my applications are under one login with the parent company's website. My question is, can HR and recruiters from the different brands see all my open applications (including those with the other brands) or just the ones that concern the brand they work for?

So a client who brought me on for a rebrand/relaunch has shifted his social media in house to his friend’s 17 year old son. Despite his age, the kid has less than no clue, the posts have typos, I presented some concepts based on certain elements being in place...he ran with them despite those elements not happening...I should sit back and laugh(ok grin). But now I’m hearing people think this is MY work typos and all. FYI I’m talking typos like “your” and “you’re”, see our latest “add”, etc

No wonder PwC loses clients. We test 300 revenue samples on a subsidiary. KPMG audits the parent and literally does a revenue analytic. Not agreeing with KPMG but certainly hard to compete with that.

Pregnant wife is having small portion meals lately, so i asked why she is eating less than usual. She read somewhere that eating too much can lead to oversized baby, making the delivery more painful, so it looks like she may be controlling the portion because of this. Is not eating enough a cause for concern?

I wish I wasn’t adaptable. Humans aspire for a greater level of comfort and once achieved, adopt that as their new baseline. Because of this, somebody making $100k cannot simply comfortably revert back to a $50k lifestyle. The slow growth of personal wealth isn’t noticed as ideated. Instead, we are never satisfied.

Any interesting cyber Monday deals for baby stuff that you guys are shopping for?

Baby furniture. What is everyone doing? FTM and trying to figure out if it’s worth investing in very expensive nursery furniture. We were looking at the Natart furniture collection and the Silva collections. These both come in at about $2000-$2400. The furniture is high quality and grows with the child. Alternatively I could go the lower end route at get everything for like $800. Is that wise? I hear horror stories about low quality and paint chipping from the baby teething on the crib.

Thoughts on this Grey Mother of Pearl Vintage Alhambra Pendant? Personally, I think it’s gorgeous. Really hope they release this in the Sweet size, as I prefer dainty jewellery.😍

SIL and BIL told us excitedly last weekend that she was pregnant (had literally just found out, so barely four weeks). This week she tells us she’s not pregnant anymore :(. They did not seem super torn up about it and were very practical about it. We said how sorry we were, etc etc. should I do anything else? Should I not mention it again unless they do?

Im a RN and took on a new role working in Home Health. I chose this position because My husband & I recently moved to PA with our 2 kids (1&3), with no family available for his residency program with a hospital. If you know that life, I’m pretty much the main parent for our kids. I don’t want to work in the hospital/floor work anymore; nor do I believe the hrs are flexible enough. I need a job that’s flexible for the kids but pays >$44/hr. Maybe remote or hybrid? Please help w/ suggestions.

How did you tell your manager you’re pregnant? Did it affect pay/promos? And then, subsequently, how did you start letting colleagues know you’re pregnant? Feels awkward to just randomly drop the news in a meeting! I work remotely so it’s hard to tell by video :) I’m 21 weeks and feel like I’ve waited as long as I can to at least notify my manager. I was waiting to negotiate my salary for next year but per company trend that doesn’t get set until January (manager reviews are written in Dec).
