Trying to interpret this:
- You work at a non-consulting firm
- You interviewed a former consultant
- They indicated they run teams like they would in a consulting organization
- You are speculating if this is a good or a bad thing since you didn't ask them to elaborate?
I'm not sure what he meant by that as teams can be run in a lot of good and bad ways.
As someone who came from industry and then entered into consulting, I would see this as a positive. When I was in industry I recall having a lot of meetings without outcomes and objectives, and lots of projects without a clear owner. Lots of employees just reported up to the main manager without any leadership tiers (think all Ms, C's, and A's running to a single SM to tell them about their great ideas and complain about their coworkers)
One of the things that impressed me the most in my first two weeks of Accenture was things would get discussed in an initial meeting, and then at the follow up things had actually progressed and people were giving updates! Sad but true.
Yes
Seeing how my industry client manages their teams I would say this is definitely a good thing

Maybe. Clarify what that means. If you're looking to avoid long hours and escape from semi-mandatory plus one activities, but the person runs the place with those things, you should find out early on.
