Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?
McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company Hi there! I’m looking at applying to McKinsey, and am wondering what is the correct level to apply for. I’m a second year analyst (recently promoted to consultant but title isn’t effective until end of the month), and I’ve been with my firm for 1.5 years. Is business analyst the correct level for me, or should I be looking at associate roles? Reading the description for associate, I feel like it might be the Deloitte equivalent of SC lol

Is this SM level?

I've heard there was a recent raise on EM compensation at US (not on US rn) so I might be mistaken, but it should be around 210k base.
I'd wait for others to confirm this to be safe
Thanks OW1 - is base comp standardized or is there variation I can use for negotiating? I’m right at about 200 right now so that’s not a good bump.

In OW each level has sublevels. If you come as an EM1 your base is equal to all EM1, and so on for all sublevels above (I think EM is up to 4).
So you won't be able to negotiate your base directly, but you might be able to negotiate the level you join - 10 YOE with an MBA should get you a good chance for EM2 or EM3 imo, but I know Oliver will negotiate hard on this.
I spoke with some good friends at US offices and they confirmed me the base would be around 200k-240k depending on your level. If you come as an EM2 it should be around 210k. Bonuses would make that go up btw 230k-260k depending on performance
That's all I could get. Good luck!
I believe the range is 220-285 for EM in the US
Awesome thanks OW2 - is that total comp or base?
It depends on what level EM you are, but it would be standard for everyone at the same level
New Salary Range is 200-220 (200 is EM1, 220 is EM4) with TC range of 212-270.
Bonus is a function of where you get promoted to. Since you’d likely start in September you can assume you’ll remain at whatever level you start at since our review cycles are September-September. So EM1 for example would be a prorated bonus of $12k (simplified, there’s also a firm credit value number which acts as a multiplier).
I’m your first year though (the following September), let’s say you perform extremely well and get a promo to EM4, the bonus would be 270 TC - 200 Salary so 70k. So your comp is always equal to whatever level you get promoted to.
